Noswonky’s Easter Message

Easter is almost upon us. I know this because there was a rabbit at Firefly today…

I therefore felt compelled to deliver my Easter message…

Pool and Business

At lunchtime, I jumped on a train and travelled to the other end of the city for a meeting with a former work colleague. I had recommended this dude to replace me in my current job, and he had been successful – receiving an offer a couple of days ago. I had anticipated that we would talk business – discussing the pros and cons of the job offer in an unbiased manner. However, he immediately told me that he had just sent an email declining the offer. No finders fee for me!

To top it off, he beat me 2-1 in pool!

Later, at work, eggs were distributed – a bizarre ritual indeed…

Who’s The Bunny?

Today I wore bunny ears at work – naturally…

It was also the day of our monthly team lunch. We went to a pizza restaurant…

While at the restaurant, I quizzed one team member on his musical preferences…

Another Bilby

While doing the mundane grocery shopping in Woolworths, I discovered a new Easter Bilby! Until now I was only aware of Darrell Lea as a manufacturer of bilbies. But the bilby I found today was made by Pink Lady. The product appears to be of lesser quality than the Darrell Lea bilby – no box, and a rougher wrapping. But on the positive side, they also have a Wombat! I bought one of each…

Christmas Picnic

It’s Christmas, and depite my being an atheist, and Yuko being an occasional Buddhist, I donned some gay apparel and we exchanged gifts…

Then we walked across the road to have a picnic on someone else’s private property. We assumed they wouldn’t mind because they are Christians. We took a chicken and ate it enthusiastically…

Line Mystery

At Epitome, it was Christmassy! Even the newspaper (above) was gift wrapped.

But out in the fields, mysterious line markings have appeared. It must be another sign that the aliens will be landing soon…

Selling Another House?

Today I saw The World! It was parked just outside my place of work which made seeing it very convenient…

When I arrived home and checked the snail mail, I found the note below from a neighbour. I wasn’t expecting to be back in the real estate market so soon…

Meanwhile, I thought I’d better move our Christmas tree from Mother’s house (where I had placed it to improve the auction result), to our house where it belongs. Our house now looks slightly Christmassy…

Carols on the Beach

Having missed the Lane Cove Carols in the plaza last week, we decided to go to the Carols on the Beach at Collaroy….

As our favourite Thai restaurant – Hob Nob – is located right next to the beach, our plan was to buy Thai takeaway food and eat it on the beach. We executed this plan flawlessly…

The musical entertainment had improved since our last visit, when it consisted of one guy with an electronic keyboard. This time there were several musicians and singers.

I was glad to see the Christians finally embracing the gay community by including a rendition of the iconic 1970’s gay anthem ‘YMCA’ along with the more traditional carols such as ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’.

It was very exciting indeed…

The Company Christmas Party

This evening after work, my company’s Christmas party was held on the rooftop BBQ area. Yuko was able to attend (and even to eat food and drink beer) without having to pay. This contrasts with another company I worked for which charged $90 for Yuko to attend the party and then starved us!

Foosball and beer (below left) go together very well. There was even a live band – ‘In D’Nile‘…

There was a little rain which forced the food to be served indoors. A makeshift tent-like structure was erected to provide some shelter, but the rain was minimal and did not disrupt the festivities. We only stayed until about 8pm having only drunk a moderate amount of alcohol. Yuko said it was the best company Christmas party she has attended!

Carols in the Park

Today was the day of the Christmas Carols in Lane Cove Plaza. We usually have dinner on the balcony at Epitome while watching the festivities. But this year we were invited to another carol singing by members of my extended family. We have attended these carols, which are at Penshurst, a few times before, but they usually haven’t been on the same day as the Lane Cove Carols.

Instead of the luxury and decadence of Epitome, we took picnic food and sat on folding chairs on the grass…

At the end of the carol singing there was a fireworks display. It was very exciting indeed…
