Castle and Laundry

Breakfast at the hotel is a choice of weird Japanese stuff, or bread. So I eat bread…

After breakfast, we went to the local castle, which is known as Shuri Castle. You can’t beat a good castle…

Inside, we saw the place where the king used to sit…

We had to remove our shoes and carry them around in a plastic bag. But in one area we had to put our shoes in a locker while we drank tea. Below is the locker key…

Before dinner I did laundry using the machines in the hotel lobby. It’s 30 yen for washing powder, and then 200 yen for a 30 minute wash cycle. Then the dryer costs 100 yen for each 30 minutes. I gave it an hour but the clothes still came out slightly damp. I decided to hang them to dry in our room overnight rather than pay another 100 yen.

We found a very good place for dinner. It was just a bare wooden wall with a hole (below left) with some dudes inside cooking chicken. We wanted to go inside, but we had some difficulty finding the door! We had to go around the back to get inside, but we did. We sat right in front of the chicken man and watched him cook. It was very nice chicken indeed!

Meeting the Queen and Captain Cook

Another job interview today – so I did some ironing…

I had to go to the city for my interview. I parked in the Domain parking station which is nowhere near where I was having the interview. However I chose it for reasons which will become clear later. It did give me the opportunity to walk past the NSW parliament where I witnessed members of the public displaying their support for the government…

I was very early for the interview, so I loitered for a while at Circular Quay. As I was standing there minding my own business, I was approached by an 18th century explorer who engaged me in conversation. He assessed my software engineering skills and recommended me for the job…

After the interveiw I walked to Martin Place to meet Yuko who made her way there independently. We then walked to Mrs. Macquaries Point to see the Queen…

She was a big fat Queen, parked right next to Russell Crowe’s back door…

Greetings

A few days ago I received a mysterious wad of cash in the mail. Today I received another item – a greeting card – apparently from a reader in a tiny constitutional monarchy at the arse end of the Earth.

The text on the back discussed a range of issues which need not concern most readers. It did pose several questions, including one about ‘the nef‘ (which I’m not familiar with).

However, its mention of moola makes me suspect that there is a link between the sender of this greeting, and the sender of the moola. Perhaps they inhabit the same physical world, or worse!

Perhaps a meeting should be arranged in a mutually accessible world.

The greeting - discussing a range of issues
