Death Threat

Today we went to a birthday party.¬†It was a wild energetic crowd…

Yuko got to hold my first cousin twice removed…

She also competed with the official photographer…

Around the time that the festivities reached a climax, I received a death threat from the guest of honour. Fortunately I captured it on video for use in any legal action which may follow…

Family Gathers – Eats Birds

In the evening we went to a family gathering at my Aunt’s house. We ate birds – turkey and chicken – and it was very nice indeed.

Cameras were banned for most of the evening, but I was able to take the picture below of a jigsaw my uncle is working on…

Carols in the Park

Today was the day of the Christmas Carols in Lane Cove Plaza. We usually have dinner on the balcony at Epitome while watching the festivities. But this year we were invited to another carol singing by members of my extended family. We have attended these carols, which are at Penshurst, a few times before, but they usually haven’t been on the same day as the Lane Cove Carols.

Instead of the luxury and decadence of Epitome, we took picnic food and sat on folding chairs on the grass…

At the end of the carol singing there was a fireworks display. It was very exciting indeed…

Family Reunion

This morning I jumped in the car and headed west toward the Blue Mountains…

My destination was the quaint town of Blackheath and, specifically the Gardner’s Inn Hotel…

This was the venue for the Nosworthy family reunion – an occasional small gathering of Nosworthys, former Nosworthys, and their various hangers on. The western venue was chosen because some members of the family were travelling from out west (Cowra) – so Blackheath is an intermediate location.

We met at about 11am and drank coffee in the lounge…

We then had lunch – which was adequate. A number of photographs were taken to record the event. The picture below depicts the main players… me, my three cousins two of their mothers and three spouses. For some reason I appear low in this picture…

My three cousins and I are all only children of four siblings. We are rarely all in one place at the same time so when it happens we usually have a ‘four cousins’ picture taken. I am the youngest!

Some members of the family are reluctant to be photographed, but that doesn’t stop me…

The Funeral

Mother’s funeral was held today in the South Chapel at Northern Suburbs Crematorium.

The South Chapel

When we arrived at the chapel, most of the friends and family were already seated, so I said hello to each of them individually. There was only one lady that I didn’t know who had known Mother many years before.

Mother

Some of the family had travelled from Canberra, starting out at 6am to be there.

The service was conducted by David Reardon, a celebrant who did an excellent job. He gave an overview of Mother’s life and told the story of Mother’s binge drinking episode.

The Celebrant

Guests signed a commemorative book so that we have a record of who was there…

Later, the flowers were brought outside so that we could take them home.

After the service, we made our way to the Atlantis Restaurant for a gathering with food and drink…

It was a very nice venue and the guests feasted on canapes, soft-drinks, tea, coffee, cake and muffins. Being the closest relative, I was the only one who knew everyone. Despite being renowned as an anti-social bastard, I mingled with all the guests. It was very nice to see everyone despite the sad occasion.

The Gathering

When we got home, Yuko photographed the flowers…
