Three Year Anniversary

Today is our third wedding anniversary, and also my birthday! We celebrated by going to ‘The Deck’ at Collaroy for lunch…

The Deck

We sat facing the beach and the weather was very pleasant indeed…

In the evening, we celebrated again by consuming alcohol at Firefly…

Death Threat

Today we went to a birthday party. It was a wild energetic crowd…

Yuko got to hold my first cousin twice removed…

She also competed with the official photographer…

Around the time that the festivities reached a climax, I received a death threat from the guest of honour. Fortunately I captured it on video for use in any legal action which may follow…

International Observe The Moon Night

Tonight was International Observe the Moon Night. So I went outside and observed the Moon. While I was observing, there was a rowdy party going on next door. I was not bothered by the party, until later when I had packed away my telescope, and they started playing Justin Beiber!

And here’s the video…

Here’s a picture which I took of the celestial body in question…

Earlier in the day, I found a record on a grassy field…

It was very exciting to observe this relic of an ancient technology in its natural environment. I approached it to get a closer look…

Meanwhile, the scoreboard was displaying an unusual score…

Birthday Breakfast

This morning we celebrated Yuko’s birthday (which was three days ago) by going to The Bathers’ Pavilion at Balmoral for a breakfast by the sea (actually the harbour)…

Since our last visit, they have introduced ticketed parking. Perhaps for this reason, it was very easy to park. The restaurant was also much less crowded than usual and we were able to sit at our favourite table. Yuko was very happy…

The food was very nice, and despite what it said on the bill, the drinks were adequate too…

Birthday

Today we stayed home. That’s because it was fathers’ day and we anticipated that all the cafes would be packed. However, it was also Yuko’s birthday, so we had to celebrate!

Yuko had already received her present from me some time ago – half an iPad – so today she just got a card and a balloon…

In the afternoon, we there was a birthday cake. It was very exciting indeed…

We will go out somewhere to celebrate further in the next couple of days.

In the evening, I took my scope out because the sky looked clear. However, it soon became cloudy and I was left viewless! The picture below was taken in the dark despite it looking very bright. The cloudy sky can be seen above the house.

The Complicated Day

It was a complicated day peppered with minor debacles.

First, I got up at 5.15am and drove Belinda to the Lane Cove doctor. This is for a periodic service, and registration. As I was there well before the doctor himself arrives, I had arranged to leave Belinda parked outside. Then I walked home.

Belinda Waits for the Doctor

Next, to the airport to pick Yuko up. Her flight was due in at 7.40am. However, when I arrived at the airport and looked at the arrivals board, I saw that the plane was going to be almost two hours late…

So I had to hang around drinking coffee (top) and watching planes for a couple of hours. Yuko eventually came through the gate at about 10.15am…

The other thing happening today was the moving of the final item out of Mother’s house. After a week of calling dudes and leaving messages without getting any response. I finally made contact with a professional safe-moving dude yesterday, and he had offered to do the job today at 11am.

I had assumed that Yuko would be home by then and would be able to supervise to operation while I was at work. However, this plan was thrown into disarray when Mitsy’s battery went flat again – and with Belinda at the doctor, we were down to only one car today. So if I drove to work, Yuko would have no car to get to and from Mother’s house for the safe-moving. I therefore decided that I would not go to work, but instead Skyped in a request to work from home today – starting at around lunchtime.

The safe moving dude arrived and demonstrated his skills. He brought his own crane! We were very happy to finally have everything out of the house – ready for the handover to the new owners…

Moving the Safe

After the safe was safely moved, I worked at home for the remainder of the afternoon. Then, we went to Epitome to celebrate Yuko’s return and of course the successful safe moving…

Celebrations Galore

Today it was a double celebration, so we went to Epitome…

We drank strawberry wine…

There was a birthday cake…

And the staff even sang “Happy Birthday”…

Of course, it was also our second anniversary

It was very exciting indeed!

Seventh Year of Blogwonky Ends

On this, the final evening of the year, we caught the train to the City and went to my place of work. There, a large group of employees and guests gathered on the roof to watch the midnight fireworks…

Crowd gathers to watch fireworks

Of course, we drank red bubbling liquid…

Yuko took pictures with her Canon camera and I took pictures with her Pentax. Later, she use one of my pictures (below) on her haiku blog. That’s why there is a haiku on the picture…

And thus ends the seventh year of Blogwonky!

The Company Christmas Party

This evening after work, my company’s Christmas party was held on the rooftop BBQ area. Yuko was able to attend (and even to eat food and drink beer) without having to pay. This contrasts with another company I worked for which charged $90 for Yuko to attend the party and then starved us!

Foosball and beer (below left) go together very well. There was even a live band – ‘In D’Nile‘…

There was a little rain which forced the food to be served indoors. A makeshift tent-like structure was erected to provide some shelter, but the rain was minimal and did not disrupt the festivities. We only stayed until about 8pm having only drunk a moderate amount of alcohol. Yuko said it was the best company Christmas party she has attended!

The Sushi Party

In the evening we went to Keiko’s house for a Sushi Party. There were a lot of people in a small space and there was much merriment. Most of the people there were from Edwin’s karate class so I was careful not to instigate any brawls…

Yuko was there with the task of photographing the sushi demonstration which began soon after we arrived. Keiko demonstrated the making of sushi, and then made it available for eating. There was also a barbecue in progress in the back yard. This event may serve as good practice for Keiko who is travelling to the UK soon where she may become a celebrity sushi chef on the BBC.
