Rain Garden Construction Begins
Work began this week on the Rain Gardens in our street. Today was my first chance to walk down and have close look. It turns out that it's just a hole in the ground (so far), but it was still very exciting...

Today we went to the city to look at the much hyped Apple Shop. We saw a big hanging apple (could this be a Garden of Eden theme?) and lots of computers and iPods (a give Steve your money now theme).
It was very glassy, but otherwise it was just a computer shop - one which looks like a fish tank. Yuko does like the "Air", but fortunately she didn't buy anything today.

Todays SMH (above) included free child porn on the front page. This newspaper has changed a lot since 1831!
We went to Mother's house for dinner and ate Thai food with chicken on the side. You can't beat chicken on the side!

But before our mouths were burned out, we discussed Yuko's boyfriends - current and past. In this video, she talks about her new Police Officer boyfriend. He's the one who helped her to get back the insurance money from her bingle in the car park.

Mother came to dinner tonight at our filthy disgusting house. Yuko made Thai (not Japanese) curry using a secret recipe that she made up. It was very nice indeed.

It was so cold today that Epitome's tables in the plaza were deserted.

On the way back from Epitome we saw this car and stopped to gawk at it. Perhaps the poor (or green) people are moving into our humble suburb...

Recently Yuko bought a CF card reader at Domayne. But because of poor design, it's very easy to damage the pins when inserting a CF card - and that's what happened. Some of the pins were bent over causing the reader not to work any more. I advised her to take it back to the shop and to demand satisfaction. She agreed, so I drove her over there. I then left her to confront the shop staff alone while I went off to browse. She does this kind of thing better alone than when I'm watching.
The result... They wouldn't refund the money, but did agree to replace the device with a new one. Yuko just has to be more careful when inserting cards.

I finally got a MIDI interface! I had to go to Turramurra Music - a shop I hadn't been to for perhaps 20 years! It still looks the same inside - just more hi-tech.
The interface worked and I was able to use my music keyboard to play my 250MB triple-strike sampled piano which resides on my laptop. It sounds just like a real (recorded) piano!

When we went to the Fish Market last week, Yuko saw some cheap lobsters - but she didn't buy them. So today we had to go there again to buy lobsters.

They are building a roof over the balcony at Epitome. It's not complete yet, but we heard that it will also have roll-down plastic walls to shield us from the elements during cold or rainy weather. It's very exciting indeed.

Today I tried to buy a MIDI interface to connect my music keyboard to my computer. I went to Harbour Music at Crows Nest (because it's close) but they only had one device and it was second hand and they didn't think it would work with Vista. So I gave up for now.
Instead I will have to continue using the barbarian method of entering MIDI data note-by-note using the mouse.
